Be On Your Gourd Against Food Waste This Hallowe’en

Now, we’re sure you’re all having fun carving up those pumpkins but did you know you can eat them too? Pumpkins have a lot of guts!

They’re nutritious, delicious and incredibly versatile. Perhaps if you find a semi-soggy one going cheap in the supermarket you could take it home? After all it’s been grown to be used so let’s eat them up.

Previously at The Real Junk Food Project Sheffield we’ve created 7 course pumpkin based feasts and rescued 300 of them from Meadowhall!

Here are a few of our favourite uses for pumpkins:

Creamy Pumpkin and Lentil Soup

Pumpkin Hummus

Pumpkin Risotto with Burnt Butter and Sage

Roast Pumpkin Seeds

Remember – enjoy those pumpkins but let’s try to minimise food waste where we can.

Have a super spooky one x
