Introducing Citrus at Zest, Sheffield’s newest pay-as-you-feel café!

The Real Junk Food Project Sheffield are excited to launch Citrus, their third pay-as-you-feel café on Monday 10th July.

The cafe will be situated in the wonderful Zest Centre, Upperthorpe, which is a fantastic hub for the community.

Citrus will offer a variety of healthy lunches, snacks, smoothies, juices and coffees all available on a pay-as-you-feel basis. The cafe will be staffed by chefs from TRJFP Sheffield and assisted by volunteers from the area who will all have the opportunity to gain qualifications leading to paid work. The food used will have been intercepted by TRJFP Sheffield, who since 2015 have saved 100s of tons of perfectly edible food from becoming landfill and made it available to the people of Sheffield.

Jo Hercberg, founder and Director for TRJFP Sheffield said “We are over the moon to be able to open a new pay-as-you-feel cafe in an exciting venue and bring the pay-as-you-feel concept to Upperthorpe. Having run several taster days in the centre we know the community has a real appetite for a vibrant cafe with a wide ranging food offer. Over the summer we will be opening for lunches with a view to extend once we hit September. The Zest Centre is a perfect fit for TRJFP Sheffield as they offer real support to people wanting to gain skills, manage their health and improve their wellbeing. What better place to host a pay-as-you-feel cafe?”

Megan Ohri, Business Development Manager at Zest said ‘Zest are delighted to be working in partnership with The Real Junk Food Project Sheffield to provide an exciting, new food offer in the heart of Upperthorpe. Bringing a pay as you feel café to the Zest Centre fits well with the ethos and values of the organisation and we can’t wait to tuck into some delicious lunches.’

If you would like to get involved in running the new cafe you can sign up to volunteer here or just call in for a chat.
