The Ocado Foundation, with whom we’ve worked for over 2 years, have gifted us a brand new refrigerated van! Continue reading “Meet our new Ocado Foundation van”
Wow! We did it.
The first supper was a resounding success. After many hours of preparation, late nights and shifting of boxes we managed to feed 125 people, save half a tonne of food from going to waste and were donated £590.96 by our customers.
An amazing team of volunteers gave up their time to collect, prepare and cook this food and to save it from going to waste. Chef Mat Rodgers from Sheaf Training ran the kitchen and turned out a range of tasty meal options with support from the team.
Take a look at some of the wonderful photos by Jason Ruffell taken during the evening:
Food destined for landfill was donated to us by Food Aware CIC, Approved Foods, Forge Bakehouse, Beanies Wholefoods, Rose’s the Bakers, Sainsbury’s, Seven Hills Bakery, Catherine’s Choice, Just Preserves, Grace Food Bank, Banana Bob, Sheffield University Student’s Union and several households.
The pop-up taught us we need to find a permanent home asap, it will be the primary focus of the Directors from now on. The next pop-up will be announced this week so watch this space (and the others!) for the announcements.
Thank you again to everyone who helped, came down and had a meal, took away some veg at the end of the night and above all believe that we shouldn’t be wasting this food!
